What was announced
- Nanoleaf announced Nanoleaf MCP on September 30, 2026. MCP is the Model Context Protocol. The integration lets compatible AI platforms, such as ChatGPT and Claude, control Nanoleaf lights.[1]
- Nanoleaf names ChatGPT and Claude as the platforms it supports. A user adds the integration as a connector in the chatbot's settings.[1]
- Supported products are Shapes, Lines, Canvas, Elements, Skylight, 4D and Essentials.[2]
What it controls
- The integration supports on and off, brightness, single colors and color temperature.[1]
- It can create, preview and delete Scenes, create and play Playlists, and control Circadian Lighting.[1]
- The integration knows what each product can do. In Nanoleaf's example, Elements panels show warm to cool white, so a request for bright blue is not available on them, while Shapes Hexagons show it.[1]
Requirements
- The integration works through the Nanoleaf Desktop App, version 3.0.0 or later. Lights must be connected to the app with a Nanoleaf Cloud account.[1][2]
- The Desktop App must stay open and the computer must stay on for the connection to remain available.[1]
- Setup adds the integration link https://integrations.nanoleaf.me/mcp in the chatbot's connectors or plugins settings, then signs in to a Nanoleaf account to approve access.[1]
