Which UniFi Protect sensors, alarms and chimes should I buy?
Most UniFi Protect sensors use a proprietary radio called SuperLink. SuperLink sensors report to a UniFi console through a SuperLink Gateway, with up to 2 km of line-of-sight range.
The older UP-Sense is a Bluetooth sensor. It connects through the gateway or a Bluetooth-enabled access point. The air quality sensor, Alarm Hub Kit, PoE sirens, speakers and PoE chime connect over Ethernet, and the WiFi Smart Chime uses Wi-Fi. Home Assistant's UniFi Protect integration covers the entry, environmental and glass break sensors, relay, key fob, sirens, chimes and air quality sensor.

SuperLink sensors connect to a UniFi console through a SuperLink Gateway. One gateway handles up to 96 SuperLink sensors at up to 2 km line of sight. There is no limit on the number of gateways per console.[1][2]
The UP-Sense is a Bluetooth sensor that adopts through a SuperLink Gateway or a Bluetooth-enabled U6 access point.[3]
Rated battery life is three years for the Recessed Entry Sensor and Glass Break Sensor, six years for the Entry, Motion and Environmental sensors, and ten years for the Smoke and CO Alarm and KeyFob.[4–10]
The Alarm Hub Kit takes 32 hardwired sensor zones. It runs on PoE++ or PoE+++ with an optional 12 V backup battery.[11]
Home Assistant's UniFi Protect integration lists the entry, environmental and glass break sensors, relay, key fob, sirens, smart chimes and air quality sensor. It shows motion and tamper only for the glass break sensor, and battery and general device data only for the air quality sensor.[12]
The SuperLink Gateway HA has LTE and a built-in backup battery. Ubiquiti has announced it, but it is not on sale yet.[13][14]
