Which tado° smart heating products should I buy?

tado° sells two ranges of smart heating controls that cannot share a Home in the tado° app: X, which uses Matter over Thread, and V3+, which connects through the Internet Bridge.

The X range has the Smart Radiator Thermostat X, the Wired Smart Thermostat X, the Wireless Temperature Sensor X, the Wireless Receiver X, the Bridge X and the Heat Pump Optimizer X. The 2nd gen Wired Smart Thermostat X and Wireless Temperature Sensor X, introduced on 2026-09-02, work with the other X products. The V3+ range is still on sale.

Lines compared

X devices talk over Thread and join a home through a Thread border router: the Bridge X, a Wireless Receiver X, a Heat Pump Optimizer X or a compatible router from another brand.[1][2]

V3+ devices connect through the Internet Bridge. The Internet Bridge does not work with X, and the Bridge X and X devices do not work with V3+.[3][4]

X and V3+ devices cannot share one Home in the tado° app. One tado° account can hold a separate Home for each range.[4][5]

tado° states that X works with fewer modulating boilers than V3+.[4]

The Wired Smart Thermostat X (2nd gen) and Wireless Temperature Sensor X (2nd gen) work with the existing X products.[4][5]

Bridges. The Bridge X and the Internet Bridge look different and do not replace each other. X devices need the Bridge X, a Wireless Receiver X, a Heat Pump Optimizer X or another Thread border router. V3+ devices need the Internet Bridge.

Homes in the app. The tado° app keeps X and V3+ devices in separate Homes. One tado° account can hold both.
