Which ecobee sensors and security devices should I buy?

The SmartSensor adds room temperature and occupancy, the door and window sensor adds open and close alerts plus motion, and the SmartCamera and wired Smart Doorbell Camera add video.

The sensors work through an ecobee thermostat or camera. Both cameras work with HomeKit and Alexa. None of these is in Matter's certified-product database. Only the SmartCamera supports HomeKit Secure Video, and ecobee sells it only in its Home Security Bundle. Video history, package detection and professional monitoring need a paid Smart Security plan from ecobee.

The SmartSensor (temperature and occupancy) and the door and window sensor are different parts. The door and window sensor has a motion detector but does not report room temperature. The first-generation ecobee Room Sensor is a different product again. The Essential and Lite do not work with it, but they do work with the SmartSensor.

Smart Security is ecobee's subscription service. Every ecobee device includes the Core plan. 30-day video history, package detection and optional professional monitoring need a paid plan.
