# LIFX switches and dimmers

*LIFX / 4 models / 2026*

> LIFX sells a two-button plastic switch, two four-button glass switches (white and black) and a four-button dimmer. The switches control LIFX bulbs and regular bulbs. The switches take the Matter update on v3 firmware. Home Assistant adds them with its Matter or HomeKit Controller integration, not the LIFX integration. The four-button dimmer was announced at CES 2026 and dims regular bulbs with TRIAC dimming.

The Matter update in the LIFX app removes a switch's existing HomeKit pairing. The switch is then added again with its Matter QR code. Updated switches work with HomeKit, SmartThings and Home Assistant.[^1]

On the dimmer, each button can run local, Matter or cloud actions. Local actions run on the light and do not use the LIFX cloud.[^2]
